Silverton Oatmeal Pie

100 year old recipe originally from a café in Silverton, Co— I  modified it to substitute raisins and add nuts. Basic ingredients and sooooo delicious.  You WILL be asked for this recipe.

(makes 1 pie—can easily be doubled for 2 - 9 “ pies)
Mix together:
1/2 c. white sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
Pinch salt
3 large or 4 med eggs
1 c. milk
1 c. oatmeal or 7 grain
¾ c. coconut
Raisins, currants,  chocolate chips or nuts may be added.
Pour into unbaked 9 inch pie shell if desired.
I do not use a pie shell.  It’s good enough without it.
It can be easily be cooked in a Dutch oven for a very impressive, but simple dessert.
Bake at 350 for 35 – 45 mins until done.
Serve with cream, ice cream or just plain!
